Yao (Lucy) Qiao is an Associate Scientist in Real-World Evidence, located in OPEN Health’s Bethesda, MD office. She has experience in epidemiology study design, longitudinal data analysis, causal inference, healthcare resource utilization, cost-effectiveness analysis, and systematic review and meta-analysis. She has worked with a variety of databases both in the US and Canada, including electronic health records, claims, and registry data covering multiple therapeutic areas including oncology, cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, and perinatal health.
Prior to joining Open Health, Lucy completed her doctoral training in pharmacoepidemiology at the Johns Hopkins University, and at the same time obtained a master’s degree in biostatistics. Before her PhD training, she worked in Toronto across different settings, including the University of Toronto as a research officer and a government public health agency as a senior analyst. So far, she has published 16 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals including first-authored studies published in JAMA Internal Medicine, Hypertension, and Mayo Clinic Proceedings.
