Maya Gerstein is a Senior Scientist in the Patient-Centered Outcomes Center of Excellence, located in Pharmerit’s Bethesda, MD office. Maya has over a decade of experience in health services research and study design, with expertise in qualitative and mixed-methodology.
In her previous role as a Senior Research Scientist at the George Washington University, Milken Institute School of Public Health within the Department of Health Policy and Management, Maya served as a co-principal investigator and qualitative and quantitative project lead on a variety of federally and privately funded research studies aimed at addressing the expressed needs and priorities of patients across a variety of health issues and conditions including childhood asthma, breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer screening and survivorship, infant health, and most-recently, a mixed-methods comparative effectiveness evaluation of treatment alternatives in Urea Cycle Disorders (UCD) funded through the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute.
Maya earned her DrPH and MPH in Health Policy from the George Washington University where her dissertation research focused on utilizing qualitative approaches, geographic information system mapping, and primary survey design, collection and analysis to examine healthcare access as a driver of treatment choice in patients affected by UCD.
